On Saturday, April 21, THS will have its prom at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research. Prom begins at 7:30 p.m. and students who are participating in Senior Walk should arrive no later than 7:45 pm. In order to participate in senior walk, students must sign up at Mrs. Calloway’s door, room A 111 by Wednesday, April 18th. All students should make arrangements to leave the Institute before 11:30 p.m. The theme of the 2018 prom is “Red Carpet.”

Students that are bringing non-THS students should have their dates pre-approved for prom by the administration. On admittance into prom, the non-THS student will be asked to show a picture I.D. to confirm his or her identity and age. No guests over the age of 20 will be allowed to enter. The THS student he or she is accompanied by is responsible for the actions and dress of the non-THS student, and if he or she does not follow the school’s rules, the THS student may be subject to disciplinary action.

Guests must dress and act appropriately for the prom. Ladies are expected to wear formal attire. A dress should be no lower in the back than the naval and strapless dresses are within dress code as long as they are appropriate. If one is concerned about her dress, talk to Mrs. Calloway or Mrs. Jones, who will deem it appropriate or not. Gentlemen, prom is a black tie event, meaning a tuxedo or suit is required. Additionally, proper footwear is also required. Shoes that come with the tuxedo rental are not required, but dress shoes are recommended. Muddy tennis shoes or boots will not be allowed.  Top hats are allowed, but baseball caps, stocking caps, or any other style hat are prohibited. Students that are inappropriately dressed will be asked to leave and students who have wardrobe malfunctions throughout the night may also be asked to leave.

Students will not be allowed to return to their cars at all during prom. There will be a coat closet for gentlemen to hang their coats and a table available for ladies who have handbags/clutches. Once a student has left the prom, he or she will not be allowed to return.

Voting for prom King and Queen for seniors, and Prince and Princess for juniors, will be on April 18, 19, and 20. Students can vote in rooms F109 and F111 during all three lunches.

A limited number of tickets are available as of press time.
