Seniors design shirts to surprise Bandy

After teaching for 15 years, Mr. David Bandy plans to retire in the 2018-19 school year. His technical designs class, which is made up of six seniors, wanted to do something special for him before they graduate.

Mr. Bandy not only teaches technical designs class, but also materials and processing, manufacturing tech, and architectural drawing/design.

The six seniors got together and created shirts to show their gratitude toward Bandy and all he has done.

Bandy had wanted to design a shirt for himself that spelled out ‘farewell tour, 2018-2019.’

“My students surprised me early with the shirt I had designed,” said Bandy.

Yesterday, May 14, Bandy’s students showed up wearing the shirts and surprised him. Senior Justin Fuller organized the surprise.

“We were going to do black shirts, but we figured it’d be too hot, so we chose white with black letters,” said Fuller.

The shirt is white with a drawing of Bandy, illustrated by Mr. Sleeper. Fuller asked Sleeper if he would draw it for them, while keeping it a secret from Bandy.

“The shirt is exactly what I wanted, I didn’t expect this at all. I was so surprised seeing my students wearing a shirt dedicated to me,” said Bandy.

“We all wanted to celebrate everything Bandy has done for us. He’s like our friend. He tells us stories and makes us laugh everyday,” said senior Nathan Evans.
