Freshman Sydney Liles is an involved student. Not only is she a member of the Varsity softball team, but her plate is also full with honors English 9, keyboarding, geometry, and gym, as well as being a member of the Sr. Beta, Interact, FFA, Spanish, and Trojan clubs. Liles was also a member of the Math SCAEL team this past year.

She has played softball since the fourth grade and was a member of the JV softball team last year. In the past, Liles has participated in the county league, also known as the Chatham Youth League, and was also on the Pittsylvania County Pride Travel team.

Her position in softball ranges between the different infield positions, except for pitcher and catcher.

“It’s intimidating, but really fun. The other girls are older and you’re facing players you haven’t seen before,” said Liles.

In addition to softball, Liles also loves to read, and challenge herself academically. Liles is especially looking forward to advanced classes throughout high school, and also hopefully attending the Piedmont Governor’s School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (PGSMST). “I look forward to being smart. I like showing my intelligence lever and learning new things.”
