As we all know, Chick-fil-A is a nationwide favorite among fast-food restaurants. However, McDonald’s is also a fast food giant in terms of the number of customers. These two fast-food restaurants are very popular and also very different. Chick-fil-A is known for its chicken, but also their slightly higher prices. Whilst, on the other hand, McDonald’s is well known for its very low prices, especially when it comes to drink size prices and the dollar menu variety.

Nuggets

Chick-fil-A is known for their amazing tasting nuggets. McDonald’s also has chicken nuggets; however, they do not compare in quality to Chick-fil-A’s nuggets. McDonald’s sells chicken nuggets at a price of around 4 cents higher than Chick-fil-A, McDonald’s 10 count is about $4.49 whereas Chick-fil-A’s 12 count is around $4.45. So when it comes to which restaurant has the best nuggets for the best price, Chick-fil-A wins every time.

Fries

McDonald’s is well known for their fries as well as Chick-fil-A. Chick-fil-A sells waffle fries while on the other hand McDonald’s sells thinner, crispier, fries. A McDonald’s large fry costs around $1.89 which is still higher than what Chick-fil-A prices their fries. A Chick-fil-A large fry costs around $1.85. I would choose either one, as the fries from both fast-food restaurants are very good.

Sauce

Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s both share many similar sauces but also have several different sauces. McDonald’s has a Big Mac sauce that anyone can ask for on the side, and Chick-fil-A has their Chick-fil-A sauce that is very popular. Comparing their BBQ sauce and Ranch sauce I would have to say that Chick-fil-A has the better of the two different sauces. Also, Chick-fil-A has a Polynesian sauce that is very good.

Frozen Treats

Chick-fil-A has some popular frozen drinks such as the Frosted lemonade or the Cookies and Cream Milkshake. McDonald’s also has many popular frozen drinks such as the McFlurry with OREOS or the Hot Caramel Sundae. McDonald’s has the lowest prices for shakes when compared to Chick-fil-A. A large McDonald’s Shake is $2.99 while a large Chick-fil-A Shake is $3.15.

Chicken Sandwich vs Burger

Chick-fil-A encourages people to “Eat mor Chikin;” therefore, they do not serve any beef. McDonald’s serves many different types of burgers such as the Big Mac or a Quarter Pounder Cheese Burger. McDonald’s also serves chicken sandwiches, for example, the well known McChicken. When it comes to variety McDonald’s definitely wins.

Overall Price

Chick-fil-A has slightly higher prices on certain items compared to McDonald’s. Chick-fil-A has slightly lower prices on nuggets and fries when compared to McDonald’s. McDonald’s, however, offers a dollar menu that allows customers to get a wide variety of food for around one dollar per item. So when it comes to the overall price, McDonald’s is the better choice.

Drive-thru and service 

Chick-fil-A on Riverside in Danville has a two-lane drive-thru that connects and leads everyone around to where they pick up their food. They also have people outside who walk around and take your order in person, much more like a curbside take away than a drive-thru. So when compared to McDonald’s drive-thru where there is only one lane and a speaker to talk into, Chick-fil-A is way better. Plus who can forget the classic “My pleasure” that Chick-fil-A workers use to display their superior customer service. 

Price

For me, I frequently go to Chick-fil-A to get lunch or just something to eat before work. However, Chick-fil-A’s slightly high prices do pivot me to another fast-food chain sometimes, such as McDonald’s. With McDonald’s low prices on their burgers and McChicken sandwiches, the Golden Arches has the better deal for me most of the time.
