Ms. Victoria Credle

Another new addition to the English department is Ms. Victoria Credle and she is teaching English 9 this year. This may be her first year at THS, but this is her 5th year teaching. Credle earned her  bachelor’s degree from Elizabeth City State University, got her teacher certification at East Carolina University, and now she is at Averett University getting her masters in administration and supervision.

“English has always been my favorite subject.” Crelde has always had a love for English even when she was in school. She also loves the freedom she has in her lesson planning now. Credle makes her lessons interactive so all her students feel heard and know their opinion matters.

Credle says her focus is on the students and getting them back on track after being out of school due to COVID. “The hardest part has been getting kids back in the swing of things.”She knows it’s been hard for teachers too, but her main concern is making sure the kids are doing well.

The main goal Credle has for her students is to gain a love for English and writing. She wants the kids who walk into her class saying they hate reading or they hate writing to leave saying the exact opposite. Credle says that if you just stick a kid’s head in a book then they won’t thrive, so she tries to make English fun for the kids with projects, debates, and so much more. “Knowing the kids are having fun learning is the most rewarding part for me.”

When Ms. Credle isn’t teaching she has a busy schedule outside of school. She coaches basketball, is a full time single mother of 3, and tutors online. Credle also loves the music side of things like singing and playing piano.
