On Friday, January, 30th the high school students in the sophomore class went to the Career and Technical Center.  They were exposed to potential career opportunities. This program has trade schools that can be completed in 1-2 years.  Students spend two periods at the high school, along with two at the institute.

Some of the programs offered include Building Trades, Criminal Justice, EMT, Nursing Assistant, and Welding along with many more. This program is to show students what is out here, and to see what field they are interested in. These programs qualify for Dual Enrollment at DCC, and students earn 3-6 college credits.

For this program, students spend part of their time in the classroom setting with an instructor mentoring them. They then perform the hands on aspect of it, to enforce what they have learned. This is a very impressive program, that can help to save a lot of money, and prepare the student for college, or to go straight into the work force.
