THS talks with Teacher Besties

THS+talks+with+Teacher+Besties

The Trojans have many great teachers here at THS. Over the years some of the teachers have formed great friendships with each other and have grown very close together. Some of the teacher friendships include: Ms. Bowker and Mrs. McGuire, Mrs. Kirby and Mr. Bowman, and Mrs. Mills and Mrs. Watson.

Ms. Bowker and Mrs. McGuire are both English teachers, and they also teach writing electives. They have known each other since college, and they have been working together for two years. Their friendship became close when they started working together. “She makes my day better, and being able to have someone to always talk to and lean on and always knowing I have her support makes this job easier,” Bowker said about McGuire.

They like to go out to eat, get ice cream, and even go to concerts together outside of school. Bowker and McGuire love to talk about Taylor Swift with each other. Students definitely recognize their amazing friendship and so do some of the other teachers here at THS.

Mrs. Kirby and Mr. Bowman have worked together for four years. They said they became friends when Covid struck and the students were out of school. They express how their only option was to talk to each other.

Their favorite thing about working together is being able to have someone to joke and pick with all day. Their favorite things to talk about are their classes,  SCA (Student Council Association), and family lives.  Their absolute favorite topic to talk about is the one and only: Kelly Burton.

They share lots of plans together for their subject classes and SCA. They also enjoy critiquing each other.  Bowman and Kirby have a one-of-a-kind friendship and you will always see them together in the hallways joking, laughing, and keeping each other in good spirits.

Mrs. Watson and Mrs. Mills have worked together for around 12 years. They became friends when they started teaching together. They enjoy working together because of their shared sense of humor, and they always like to act silly with each other by running into each other’s classrooms and making inside jokes. In the summer they hang out  at Mills pool. The two also spend  holidays together and enjoy spending time with each other’s family. Watson’s room is well known to be a classroom where she makes learning enjoyable and fun for students, especially when Mills joins in.

These two do just about everything together including traveling, going out to eat, watching shows and plays, going on vacations, and attending family reunions. Watson says Mills is like a sister to her and is a wonderful bonus to her family. They typically enjoy sending Facebook reels back and forth together about dogs, husbands, and funny memes. Students will recognize the friendship between the two, and in fact they are so close students sometimes believe the two are  sisters.

They share lots of plans in teaching together. When Watson first joined THS, Mills helped Watson by giving her lesson plans and ideas to help make things easier. They also sometimes switch classrooms, letting each other teach their students a certain topic because they know their ways of teaching topics and are always looking out for what is  best for their students.

All of these teachers are very loved at THS and know how to make the students here feel appreciated as well. Their silly and kind friendships radiate joyful energy off to their students and makes everyone’s day a little more enjoyable.
