Coach Matt Shelton

Coach Matt Shelton is one of many new teachers joining the faculty. Many students already know him from elementary school at Twin Springs. Throughout the 2015-16 year M. Shelton will teach ninth grade gym/health class.

After, graduating from Tunstall in 2002, Shelton attended Averett University. Coach Shelton has had many years of experience as a teacher but not so much a high school teacher. In 2008 he taught for two years at Kentuck Elementary school. In 2010 he went to Twins Springs Elementary to become a gym teacher. After spending five years at Twins Spring he came to Tunstall. Coach Shelton married his wife Paige in 2014. They now have a son named Mattox. Coach Shelton also has a daughter, Laci.

Coach Shelton also says his favorite part of working at Tunstall is being with his dad, who has taught and coached at Tunstall for over thirty years. He is also a Tunstall alumni and says being back here makes him feel at home.

Coach Shelton is also a JV baseball coach at Tunstall. Coach Shelton says, “My goals are to educate as many students as possible as well as coach baseball and continue to help the program to grow.”
