Crider takes it one shot at a time

November 17, 2016

One day, while hanging other with two friends, junior Cutler Crider made a bet. The bet was how far he could throw a ball across the yard. From then on, he became hooked on trick shots and is now known as a “trick shot god.”

A trick shot, defined by Wikipedia, is “a shot that seems unlikely or impossible and requires significant skill.”

Crider has many role models, but Dude Perfect and the Globetrotters are his biggest inspirations.

In summer of 2015, he entered the national Globetrotters Draft Contest. By competing, he had the opportunity to play with the team. After votes on Facebook and Instagram of his trick shot videos, Crider came in second place overall. Although he was not the winner, his talent was still noticed evident by the attention his videos received.

During break, he also beat nine world records including world’s longest hook shot and world’s longest basketball shot sitting down.

“I want to do everything to the best of my abilities,” he said.

His main goal is to go as far as he can with his trick shots no matter what it takes.

Crider shared, as expected, that he has many critics and people who doubt his abilities. But, he can handle it because he has a great support system through his close friends, family, and social media followers.

His advice to those who want to do what he does would be, “Never give up no matter what anyone thinks of you.”

Outside of trick shots, Crider is an avid sports fan, as most know. As much as he loves basketball, he loves football even more. His favorite college team is “definitely Tennessee” because of his mother. His family was who sparked his interest in athletics, although Crider has always considered himself competitive.

Crider’s trick shots videos are showcased on his Instagram (@cutlercrider11), with over 2,000 followers. He also can be found on YouTube (That’s Nothing Trick Shots) and Snapchat (@cutlercrider11).
