A binge-watching guide for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate the one you love. This is a day full of hugs and kisses. But, as high school students, we don’t have much money, or if you’re single, you have nothing else to do except watch movies. Watching movies is a way to still enjoy time with your significant other (or your dog) and while saving money. If you have no idea what to watch, here are my top five picks:

  • How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days: This movie is a classic rom-com. It is one of my favorite movies and includes Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey. In this movie, Andie Anderson is trying to make Ben Barry break up with her in 10 days, while Ben is trying to get Andie to fall in love with him in 10 days. They are both doing this to prove a point to their coworkers at their jobs. This movie is one that will make you laugh and cry, and it can be found on Netflix.

  • 10 Things I Hate About You: I am not trying to go with the theme of 10 here, but this just happens to be another movie with 10 in its title. Although this movie may be old, 1999 to be exact, it is still one that gives you all the feels. Plus, young Heath Ledger isn’t too bad to look at, either. 10 Things I Hate About You can also be found on Netflix.

  • Any Nicholas Sparks movie: If you’re not watching these basic movies, then you’re doing it all wrong. From the Notebook to The Last Song, Nicholas Sparks is always able to give you a good cry. His movies, The Best of Me and Safe Haven, can be found on Netflix.

  • The Fault in Our Stars: If you need a good cry, like a really good cry, a cry that makes you nearly hyperventilate, The Fault in Our Stars will provide that. This movie is not on Netflix, but it can easily be purchased at major stores, such as Target.

  • Forever My Girl: Even though this movie is still in theaters, it is definitely worth paying $10 to see. If you love a good sweet and southern love story, this is perfect to see on Valentine’s Day. Guys, take notes from Liam Page. Also, you will not be able to stop singing “Enough” and “Finally Home” after watching this amazing movie.

Hopefully, after reading this, you have figured out what you want to watch. So, grab a bunch of blankets, cuddle up, and enjoy this cheap way to spend your Valentine’s Day.
