Tryouts kick start soccer

The boys and girls team have been preparing to start the soccer season. The girls who are members of the team have been going to conditioning since the beginning of of January. The girls team is coached by Mark Perrish. During conditioning the girls have been going to the middle school gym to practice. In the gym they run many laps and perform different drills. During the drills they work on specific skills, that will benifit the team during the season. A total of eighteen girls will make the cuts.

On Monday afternoon the team went to an Averett clinic. At the clinic they worked on skills that would benefit the team. Many of the students thought that it was very exciting to work with teammates that went to the college. Another very exciting part of the season is when the team decides to vote on three captains. Besides attending the pre-game coin toss, a lot of leadership responsibility is deligated to these three captains. Before the games start the captains give pep talks, in order to motivate the team during the game.

Cuts for the team will be decided on by this Thursday.

The boys tryouts will start on Wednesday. They will also be going through rigerous drills and the coach will be watching closely for specific attributes. The coach is John Robinson.
