Gotta catch ’em all

Allison Crank, Social Media Manager

Many people have become obsessed with this new and fun way to play Pokémon. I downloaded the app to see what all the talk was about and it turns out I really enjoyed playing!

Pokémon Go was released July 6 and has been a craze ever since. The original Pokémon was created by Satoshi Tajiri in 1995. Pokémon Go was developed by Niantic Inc.

Pokémon Go is fun for all ages! The objective of the game is to go out and find the rarest and highest power Pokémon. Your phone will buzz when there is a Pokémon near by. When one appears, you tap it and it pops up on your camera as if it were standing right in front of you in the real world.

Pokémon Go has become motivation for players to get up and get some exercise. In order to hatch eggs you have to walk a certain amount of miles. So get your Pokémon Go squad together and head to the Riverwalk to hatch some eggs. You may even encounter others playing Pokémon Go.

It may look a little something like this:

*Points at person walking and staring at phone*

“Pokémon Go?”

“Pokémon Go!”

Boom- instant friendship.

Pokémon Go gives Danvillians something new and fun to do for once! Instead of sitting in the K-Mart parking lot every Saturday night or spending money on the movies and food, why not get some friends together and go catch some rare Pokémon?

Pokémon Go is also an adventure. You never know when a rare Pokémon could appear or maybe you’ll find a Pokestop right around the corner. It makes you feel like a little kid again. I feel like at times we just need to get away from all the stress and drama of other social media and just have some fun.

A Pokestop is a place to restock on pokeballs and other items. A Pokestop is usually found in significant places such as museums, churches, libraries, and other landmarks.

Pokémon Go players may sound like nerds, and you may think they have no social life. However, the game has made people more social. I mean, hello, we’re actually getting out of the house.

Others may think Pokémon Go is dangerous, but the app does warn you to watch what you’re doing, don’t play Pokémon Go and drive, and don’t trespass or go into dangerous places while playing Pokémon Go. The creators are attempting to keep us safe.

Pokemon go is a fun and even healthy thing to do because you can’t be a “Slow-poke” and play Pokemon go.
