Christmas is approaching which means it’s time to break out your festive CDs and crank up the holiday jams. However, listening to the same arrangement of “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” and all the other songs repeated on the radio can become mind numbing. Here are six unique songs to mix up your playlist.

“Santa, Teach Me To Dance,”  Debby & The Darnells

If you’re looking for music that will inspire you to do some prancing, or rather dancing, this is the song for you. Not in a jolly spirit? Listen to this song and you will soon feel more lighthearted and ready to do some gift shopping.

“Monsters Holiday,” Bobby Pickett

This song is similar to the iconic “Monster Mash” because it is written by the same person. The tune is the same as the Halloween song, but the lyrics have been changed since it’s a different holiday.

“Christmas Eve,”  Mannheim Steamroller

Although this is an instrumental song, the quality is just the same as any song with lyrics. The arrangement incorporates many different well-known songs such as “Carol of the Bells” but includes a key change that really changes the feeling of the song. Be sure to check it out and pay attention to how many different instruments are used throughout.

“Christmas Medley,” Anthem Lights

Anthem Lights is widely popular for their covers of songs. “Christmas Medley” is a mashup of all the songs already known about the birth of Jesus. This is not the only festive song they have covered. Many more can be found on their YouTube channel.

“White Winter Hymnal,” Pentatonix

This cover will get anyone ready for cold weather, scarves, gloves, and big coats. This acappella group can get anyone in a December 25 state of mind.

“Oh, Ms. Believer,” Twenty One Pilots

Although this is not predominately a Christmas song, the jingle bells and horse hooves in the background hint at it. The lyrics are speaking figuratively about winter, but they could be taken in a literal sense, as well.

Music is a great asset to Christmas parties or even something simple like hanging up lights outside. Although I can’t guarantee it, I think these songs would be “Santa approved” if Mr. Claus had the opportunity to hear them.
