Its that unfortunate time of year again. The time of the dreadful SOLs. Teachers buckles us down with a tsunami of review packets and end-of-the-year tests. Somehow, we all seem to push through the last six weeks.

The real question is have the teachers prepared students for the SOLs? The answer is yes, the fact that the teachers only have a few short months to cram a ton of information in students.

“Thaxton has prepared me immensely for my Algebra II SOL by giving out study guides and his online Youtube videos,” said sophomore Jenna Lusk. “For me, math will be the easiest only because Thaxton takes the time out to ensure I fully understand the material,” she concludes.

Many students have trouble learning throughout the year. “I can only learn by being in a group, or having that one-on-one with the teacher. So, I often times stay for tutoring when I didn’t understand the lesson that day,” says junior Anna Poole.

Almost every teacher is cramming their students for the SOLs. Tutoring has extended from an hour or two hours a day.

Which SOLs are students mostly worried about? “I am mainly concerned with the science SOL because there’s so many different topics within earth science,” said freshmen Ana Johnson.

SOL testing began May 4th and will end May 17th.
