Another tie-dye day was a success, run by Mrs. Rossman, Mr. Jack, and Ms. Midkiff. Graduating seniors are provided with white shirts and materials to be able to tie-dye their shirt to represent the school they will be attending. Seniors wear the shirts to Decision Day which will be held on May 1.
Art teacher Ms. Midkiff is tasked with helping the students fold their shirts and choose their colors. She had extra help to make things run smoothly. Midkiff said, “My student helpers [have] helped tremendously today.”
Senior guidance counselor Mrs. Rossman was behind the scenes making sure that each student was tie-dying during their designated time. Mrs. Rossman does not like to get dirty, so she always handles the list of seniors and enjoys mak[ing] these seniors realize they are graduating,” Rossman said.
Mr. Jack had a difficult time last year trying to coordinate this process because the weather was so awful: cold and rainy. “The weather has been super nice today,” he commented. He also added that using puppy pads to soak up extra dye was a great way to keep things running smoothly and not so messy.
The students had a great time being able to customize their shirts and show off their final decision. “I actually finally made a decision,” senior Samuel Payne said. Payne was feeling very indecisive about his next four years, but he ultimately decided to choose UVA.
Senior Nicolette Matzganis added a twist to her shirt to represent her attending Patrick and Henry. “Being creative and having fun [was my favorite part].” She decided to dye her shirt pink for fun.
