Discovering the best skin care products, self tanners, and makeup for prom

Prom season is upon us, and many of us do not want to break the bank on prom supplies. High end products are always nice to have, but there is always a lower priced option with the same benefits. Below, you’ll find a guide to looking your best while staying within your budget.

Skin care products:

Face masks are an essential to have you feeling completely refreshed before beginning the process of getting ready. There are so many options for different skin types. Whether you have dry, oily, redness, or acne prone skin, face masks are always an easy solution to make your problems disappear.

High end: Lush Cup O’ Coffee $11.95-22.95

This is one of my favorite products .This is perfect for combination skin, and smells so good. To use, smooth mask all over your skin. Leave on for 15 minutes then rinse off with warm water, massaging as you go.

Moderate: Indian Healing Clay $9.47

This mask is perfect for cleaning your pores out and giving your skin a nice, clean glow. Apply mask all over clean skin. Leave for 10-15 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Exfoliate as you rinse with a washcloth.

Low end: Neutrogena Hydrating Gel Mask $2.50

This product is great for dry skin. It leaves your face feeling fresh and smooth. I do these on a regular basis to fix dry patches. Apply the mask to your face and leave on for 15 to 30 minutes. Remove the mask and massage remaining product into face and neck, then rinse with water.

Moisturizers are another key component to looking and feeling your best on prom day. With the right moisturizer, your makeup will look flawless. There are many options when it comes to moisturizers, but these are some of my favorites.

High end: Lush Vanishing Cream $44.95

This is one that I like using right after cleaning my face because it’s so light weight. It smells like lavender and leaves your face feeling so soft.

Moderate: Neutrogena Hydro Boost $16.17

This is my daily go to because it is also super light weight but locks the moisture in all day. It also lasts forever so that’s a plus. This is the perfect product to use before applying makeup because it makes foundation look dewy and natural.

Low end: Ponds Dry Skin Creme $4.99

This product is super thick and creamy, so it’s great for really dry skin. It is a great base for makeup also.

Self Tanning Products:

If you feel the need to have a sun kissed glow at prom, sunless tanners are always helpful. Tanning memberships are expensive and not everyone wants to subject themselves to the possible sun damage associated with tanning beds. There are so many options when it comes to sunless tanners and a lot of them can be found at your local Walmart.

High end: Loving Tan Self Tanning Mousse $34.95-39.95

This self tanner is honestly one of the best. It comes with a tanning mitt, a glove to help evenly distribute the tan, and gives a tan that looks extremely natural and real. It comes in three different shades: medium, dark, and ultra-dark. It is also offered in a two hour express, meaning the product will be fully developed in two hours, rather than original product’s eight hour development.

Moderate: Fake Bake Flawless Self Tan Liquid  $23.26

When self tanner is mentioned, this is a product that a lot of people immediately think of. It is a classic of self tanning and rightfully so because it works amazing. Just be cautious of how much you use because it will get blotchy if too much is applied.

Low end: Jergens Natural Glow  $2.49-11.99

The Jergens Natural Glow line has so many products and they all work pretty well. My favorite is the Jergens Natural Glow Wet Skin Moisturizer, it gives an even tan and is easy to apply.

Makeup Products:

Makeup has gotten ridiculously overpriced. When shopping at Sephora, you usually end up spending an arm and a leg on a total of maybe five products. These are some of my favorite goodies from Sephora along with dupes that work just as well.

Primer: Benefit Cosmetics POREfessional Face Primer $31

This is hands down my favorite makeup product ever. It makes foundation go on so smoothly and it’s the perfect thing to throw on even if you don’t plan on wearing makeup for the day. An excellent dupe of this is Maybelline Face Studio Master Prime for $7.89.

Foundation: Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full Coverage Foundation $39

This foundation is perfect for prom night, especially since it lasts all night. The best dupe for this is L’Oreal Paris True Match for $6.59.

Bronzer: Marc Jacobs Beauty O!Mega Bronzer $49

This is an amazing bronzer, it blends so smoothly and is easy to build on the product. The best dupe for this is Physicans Formula Butter Bronzer for $14.95.

Highlighter: Jeffree Star Skin Frost $29

This highlighter is blinding to say the least and will have you glowing at prom. A great dupe for this is Maybelline Face Studio Master Chrome for $9.99.

Mascara: Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara $23

This mascara has the power to completely transform eyelashes. The best dupe of this is Maybelline Volum’ Express The Rocket Mascara for $5.89.

Eye shadow: Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye shadow Palette $42

This eye shadow palette has so many different color combinations and can form so many looks. The best dupe of this is E.L.F. Cosmetics Rose Gold Eyeshadow Palette for $10.00.

Lipstick: BareMinerals GEN NUDE Liquid Lipstick $19

This is my all time favorite lipstick, it is very comfortable on the lips and smells kind of like cupcakes. A perfect dupe of this is NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream for $6.50.

Whether you listen to our advice or not, I’m sure your prom experience will be fabulous and you will look fabulous.
